Periphery Operators

A cursory glance at the demographic characteristics of cultural operators suffices to realize that optimism in the years to come can rise only from the exit options. Activity of cultural operators resembles that of telephone operators. They are the system nodes which redirect streams of cultural content towards a local social context. They are completely dependent on the existent infrastructure (festivals, biennials, museums, galleries, theatre, media, etc.)  that host these streams and are also entirely dependent on the characterises of the community in which they operate (affluence, openness, enterprise, education, etc.). The culture system is organized hierarchically (which does not exclude changes in relations between the protagonists, however, it does define their momentary relation), so that nodes within the networked streams  of cultural contents do not have equal power. The power of nodes grows under influence of  the intensity and quality of social relations, which are further influenced by the general characteristics of the social context and the infrastructure.
